About DFC

DFC

DFC stands for Dutch Film Composers, a group of composers that advocates the professional and personal interests of Dutch television and film composers, both nationally and internationally. The DFC also encourages and facilitates creative and social interaction, as well as knowledge-sharing among its members and colleagues in the film industry. The association was founded in 2011 and has since maintained regular contact with national and international organisations, including the Nederlands Film Festival, Buma/Stemra, and Sena. Since 2016, the DFC has been part of BCMM, the professional association for multimedia composers. DFC members automatically become members of BCMM as well. Film composers who are not DFC members are encouraged to register with BCMM.

MEMBERS

DFC members work at a high level, both domestically and internationally, on films and television series across documentary and fiction. Membership is by invitation and subject to certain conditions, ensuring the quality and professionalism of the membership. The association and its members stand for craftsmanship and the ongoing exchange and improvement of technical, business, and creative practices.

MEMBERShip

Membership is granted on the basis of a motivated recommendation by two existing members. New members must have been actively working as the lead composer on high-quality feature films, short films, and/or television productions for a minimum of five years, and must intend to continue doing so.

"High-quality film production" is defined as a production shown in cinemas for at least 14 days or made available through recognised streaming platforms. "High-quality television production" is defined as a series with episodes of at least 35 minutes each, comprising a minimum of 3 episodes, broadcast on a national channel or made available through recognised streaming platforms. "Five years of active work" means at least 5 high-quality production credits as lead composer over a period of 5 years.
