From his own studio in Amsterdam, Bart Westerlaken has been making music for films and television series since 2000.
Having graduated from the Dutch Film Academy as a Director of Photography, his work in film shifted from behind the camera to the music studio. He has composed scores for dozens of short films, feature films such as Taped, The Balloonist and To Be King (for which he also wrote the screenplay), documentaries such as Strike a Pose, long-running television series such as Black Widow, the international production Heirs of the Night and The Secret Diary of Hendrik Groen, and miniseries such as Stanley H, Homefront and Legacy. He works with directors such as Sander Burger, Brendan Muldowney, Diederik van Rooijen, Ben Sombogaart and Tim Oliehoek. His style ranges from very dark to experimental to light and comedic.
